Director of the Makeup Agenda, Paulette Oliff attained her professional and highly specialized skills during her ten years spent working for leading fashion industry brands in Europe.
Paulette was initially employed as a makeup artist and hairstylist for a host of fashion shows and photographic shoots across Europe and the United States, working for prestigious international companies such as Sebastian International and Wella, as well as working with top professionals in the industry.
She was able to really hone her abilities however, during her ten years living in Germany and working for the well known and highly acclaimed makeup and hairstyling company, Sebastian International. Here, after gaining valuable experience and training, Paulette was provided the opportunity of compiling and presenting makeup and hairstyling seminars across Europe, as well as training groups of students who accompanied her on professional shoots throughout Europe. It is during this time that Paulette realized her passion for teaching and sharing knowledge with others.
Locally, Paulette is recognized as one of South Africa’s premiere makeup artists and is still actively involved and regularly called upon to apply her skills for special events, film shoots, commercial shoots and fashion shows around the country. She has provided her professional services on shows including ‘Ella Blue’, ‘Interrogation Room’, ‘King Solomons Mines’, the TV production ‘Known Gods’ and many more. Paulette has also headed-up leading fashion shows such as the MTN Durban Fashion Week and Cape Town Fashion Week (sponsored by Nokia).
When recruited to provide makeup and hairstyling services, Paulette’s students are given the opportunity to accompany her on these shoots, enabling them to gain invaluable practical experience, as well as providing them the opportunity to build their own all important portfolios.
Keeping Ahead of the Game
Paulette continues her professional development and stays ahead of the latest fashion trends and product innovations by attending seminars in New York, London and Germany twice yearly. In order to maintain her distinguished reputation in this highly competitive industry she trains regularly with leading international makeup artists. By using only premier quality products and equipment in her own studio, Paulette ensures that her students, as well as her clients have access to the best that the industry has to offer.
Recent Successes
- Headed Fashion Week under the umbrella of Wella
- Apart from a variety of short films, Paulette provided Makeup and Hair Artistry services for the TV production ‘Known Gods’ and ‘Ella Blue’
- Provided Hairstyling services for live production ‘Rock Circus’
- Our top student was recruited straight from graduation into a leading fashion agency (this is exceptional as students are usually required to build their portfolios and experience for at least 3 years)
